Travel advice

Taking it home on a flight.

  1. 01

    Heat

Chocolate softens fast in Sabah's heat. Don't leave it in a parked car or the sun, and bring a cooler bag if you'll be out for a while. If it does soften, let it set in the fridge: it may turn pale, but it's still fine to eat.

  2. 02

    Flights

Carry chocolate and cookies in your cabin bag, not your checked luggage: the cabin is air-conditioned, while checked bags can sit on a hot runway. Powders can go in the cabin too, though some airports screen them separately, so keep the tins sealed and easy to reach. The 5g sticks are the easiest to fly with.

  3. 03

    Packing

Keep boxes flat, upright and near the top of your bag. Wrap the bowl in clothing, and keep the whisk in its box so the prongs hold their shape.

  4. 04

    Arriving

Some countries, such as Australia and New Zealand, ask you to declare all food when you land. Check the rules for where you're flying to.
